Funds tipped for 2014 include Old Mutual UK Smaller Companies, GLG Core Japan Alpha and Schroder Global Emerging Markets.

Readers are reminded that Momentum Plays is a popular investing strategy with investors in Japanese equities likely to benefit from such an investing approach. Jason Hollands at Bestinvest likes GLG Japan Core Alpha.

The UK is also tipped as a momentum play. Patrick Connolly at Chase de Vere suggests Old Mutual UK Smaller Companies and Black Rock UK Special Situations.

Darius McDermot at Chelsea Financial Services thinks that the US tech sector is good value. He likes Axa Framlington Global Technology.

According to the article, Analyists are starting to recommend investing in emerging markets shares as a way of accessing more expensive developed markets such as America. The Schroder Global Emerging Markets fund is tipped as a way of tapping into this idea.

Barclays Capital

Barclays Capital analysts are tipping the following shares for 2014:

BHP Billiton, British American Tobacco, Shell, London Stock Exchange Group, Prudential, Wolseley, William Hill, and BT
